Design Toolkit

Concept

The concept of PlateNite was set out to be solely focused on finding late night eateries. Not every body uses Google in the most efficient manner, and the app seeks to be a filter for which people could search for restaurants that would be open long after most had closed their dining rooms.

Mood Board

The mood board for PlateNite was inspired by late night eateries and diners. As some of these blue-collar restaurants have established themselves as late night gathering places, the concepts and feelings of those places would most likely resonate with young adults from all walks looking for a place to eat.

Pattern Library

A pattern library was created to reinforce the aesthetic conveyed by the mood board and to establish a design system for the PlateNite app.

User Interface

The PlateNite audience would most likely be young adults. As such, the interface reflected a more nocturnal lifestyle through it’s use of imagery and neon color scheme.

Colors

The neon color scheme was inspired by american diners and other late-night eateries that existed before the Taco Bells, Waffle Houses, and other countless chains. As late night establishments often use neon signage, it was decided that a scheme which reflected that would be the most conventional approach.
